A few days ago, President Trump was criticized for a speech he gave at the annual Boy Scout Jamboree. In his speech, the president talked about how he won the electoral college and what mistakes the Clinton campaign made. The speech was so inappropriate, the Boy Scouts had to apologize (Boy Scouts apologize).
During an interview with the Wall Street Journal Wednesday, Trump claimed “I got a call from the head of the Boy Scouts saying it was the greatest speech that was ever made to them, and they were very thankful.” However, in responding to the president, the Boy Scouts stated “We are unaware of any such call.” The Boy Scouts specified that neither of the organization’s two top leaders — President Randall Stephenson and Chief Scout Executive Mike Surbaugh — had placed such a call.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders denied on Wednesday that President Donald Trump made up a conversation he said he had in a phone call with the head of the Boy Scouts about his July 24 speech at the group’s national jamboree. “I wouldn’t say it was a lie,” Sanders told reporters at the daily briefing.
