During a campaign rally in South Carolina, Trump decided to make fun of a reporter who happens to suffer from a disability. Trump has denied that he meant to mock the reporter because of his disability. Times reporter Serge Kovaleski has arthrogryposis, a congenital condition affecting the joints. Trump further claimed that he has never met Kovaleski, however, it has been reported that Trump has met the reporter on 12 different occasions.
In Trump’s defense, there are a few other instances of Trump acting flustered or not being able to control himself physically while describing different people or situations (as seen in the video below). The one of him talking about Ted Cruz was done after his impression of the reporter, and some believe he intentionally acted that way in an attempt to persuade people that he commonly acts that way. There are three other instances dating back to 2005 where he did act that way, but curiously he has not acted that way since the beginning of 2016.
There hasn’t been any film or video of any other president, or presidential candidates acting in such a matter in the past 100 years. If Trump wasn’t mocking the reporter, then his actions certainly depart from what most Americans expect of a potential president.
