Trump poll numbers continue to crash. President Trump’s job approval rating has fallen to a new low, according to a poll released Wednesday. The new Quinnipiac University poll finds Trump has a job approval rating of 34 percent, compared to 57 percent who disapprove of the way the president is handling his job. In a poll released at the end of last month, 37 percent of respondents approved of the job the president was doing and 55 percent disapproved.
The new poll also finds 31 percent of voters think Trump did something illegal regarding his relationship with Russia. Another 29 percent of respondents think the president did something unethical, but not illegal, regarding his relationship with Russia. Thirty-two percent think the president did nothing wrong.
At this point in his presidency, Trump has the lowest approval ratings of any previous president, dating back to Harry S. Truman, the first president to have an approval poll taken near the beginning of their presidency. President Donald Trump’s approval rating has fallen to 37% — a new low, according to a Quinnipiac University national poll released Wednesday.
Most of his decline is due voters who are considered his “base”. Among Republicans, Trump’a approval rating sank from 91% to 81%, with similar declines among male, and white voters.
“Most alarming for President Donald Trump, the demographic underpinnings of his support, Republicans, white voters, especially men and those without a college degree, are starting to have doubts,” the assistant director of the poll, Tim Malloy, said in a statement. A large majority of those polled — 70%, did not believe Trump’s unsubstantiated claims that President Obama wiretapped his phones during the 2016 election. A claim that Trump still holds to even though there is absolutely no evidence to support it. The poll also reported 73% of voters said Trump and his administration made statements without supporting evidence “very often” or “somewhat often.” Voters also showed increasing doubt in Trump’s honesty and leadership, as 60% of respondents thought Trump was dishonest, compared with 55% in the March 7 poll.
Naturally, Trump has denounced low approval ratings as “fake news” and dismissed polls in January that showed he would be the lowest-rated incoming president in modern history.
