Trump, Haley blasted for threats

12/21/2017

John Brennan has served four Presidents in various intelligence rolls.  He was the Director of the CIA.  He served over seas.  He knows a thing or two about diplomacy.  Last week he heard just about enough from the Trump Administration and Nikki Haley, Trump’s Ambassador to the United Nations.

The former CIA Director lashed out at the Trump administration on Thursday for its “outrageous” reaction to a United Nation General Assembly resolution condemning the U.S. for recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.  “Trump Admin threat to retaliate against nations that exercise sovereign right in UN to oppose US position on Jerusalem is beyond outrageous,” Brennan wrote in his second-ever Twitter missive on Thursday.

The U.N. on Thursday voted 128-9 to denounce the Trump administration’s Israel decision, despite warnings from the White House that countries who voted in favor of the nonbinding rebuke would risk losing foreign aid from the U.S.

Nikki Haley, apparently unaware of the right of every sovereign nation to vote as they see fit, stated “The United States will remember this day in which it was singled out for attack in the General Assembly for the very act of exercising our right as a sovereign nation”.

“We will remember it when we are called upon to once again make the world’s largest contribution to the United Nations. And we will remember when so many countries come calling on us, as they so often do, to pay even more and to use our influence for their benefit,” Haley continued.

The status of Jerusalem is a hotly contested topic amid Israeli-Palestinian peace talks as the city is a holy site for Jews, Muslims, and Christians.
