In an early morning Tweet, President Trump warned former FBI Director James Comey that he better hope that there were no “tapes” of their conversation before he went to the press. White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer later refused to answer questions seeking to confirm or deny that President Trump secretly records his conversations. The last known occurrence of a President secretly recording conversations was of President Richard Nixon during the early 1970’s.
