“All I can tell you it is a foolproof way of winning, and I’m not talking about what some people would say, but it is a foolproof way of winning the war with ISIS.” That was the claim Trump made to Fox News during a May 2015 interview. “Unfortunately, I’ll probably have to tell at some point, but there is a method of defeating them quickly and effectively and having total victory.”
Donald Trump has long assured us that he has a very real, and very good, plan to defeat the Islamic State. However, disclosing the details would ruin the advantage over the enemy. He has been talking about this secret plan for more than a year. He has said it was “foolproof” and “absolute” in its effectiveness.
During a June 2015 interview with the Des Moines Register editorial board, he offered a different reason for keeping the plan under wraps. He feared that his opponents would steal the idea, and he wouldn’t get the credit. “The problem with politics is if I tell you right now, everyone else is going to say, ‘Wow, what a great idea.’ You’re going to have 10 candidates go and use it, and they’re going to forget where it came from, which is me. But no, I have an absolute way of defeating ISIS.”
So where is the secret, foolproof plan that will ensure total victory? He has not announced how he is going to share the plan with his Generals, or how long it might take to implement it. He did however instruct his Generals to come up with their own way to defeat ISIS and deliver the plan to him in 30 days.
