General John Kelly took over as Chief of Staff this morning, and it didn’t take long before “The Mooch” was fired and shown the door. Scaramucci technically hadn’t even started his job yet. His official start date was to be August 15th.
After what can only be described as a nightmare of embarrassing events, Scaramucci lost his job today. Scaramucci’s 10-day tenure at the White House as Director of Communications was the second shortest tenure for that position in history. Only one other Communications Director served a shorter term(Ronald Regan had a Communications Director who was a Hitler Youth, and when it was discovered, he was ousted). Scaramucci’s firing came after he publicly embarrassed fellow White House staff members and used vulgarities so obnoxious, network stations refused to repeat what he had said.
Not a popular member of the White house team, Press Secretary Sean Spicer resigned upon learning Scaramucci had been hired. Both Chief of Staff Reince Priebus and Senior Adviser Steve Bannon reportedly both vehemently protested his hiring. Yet, Trump hired him anyways, and allowed him to report to Trump directly instead of reporting to the Chief of Staff, which is the traditional protocol.
Scaramucci caused quite a bit of stir and chaos in the few days he was in his position, and apparently John Kelly can do without the distractions. Shortly after Kelly was sworn in, it was announced that Scaramucci would be leaving. No replacement has been announced at this time.
