Trump plays a lot of golf – Can Americans get a mulligan?

President Trump plays a lot of golf. A lot. While it is not surprising that he take some time off to relax, the amount of time he spends away from the White House at his properties is alarming. During his campaign, Trump also stated that he would have no time to play (see video below), and often criticized President Obama for doing so.

In a recent Washington Post article (WP - Trump played a lot of golf) it was disclosed that as of July 31st, Trump either played at, or at least visited his own golf properties 57 of the 193 days he has been president. That is almost 30% of the his days have been spent at his properties, most of the time playing golf. The Post goes on to calculate that Trump played golf once every 5.7 days, compared to Obama playing once every 8.8 days. Obama did not play golf during his first two months in office.

Considering Trump has achieved little in his first few months, perhaps he should at least take his own advice and invite a few Democrats to play some golf. Making a few new friends might help end some of the partisan gridlock engulfing Washington.
