Is it hard to believe 39% of Americans think President Trump is doing a good job? For some it is, others find it hard to believe his rating isn’t higher.
America can be a funny place, where people believe all sorts of things. Looking at the list, you have to wonder, why are people so stupid? Why don’t more people believe (fill in the blank)? Why do so many people believe (again, fill in the blank). It’s almost equally as shocking to learn what American know and don’t know.
Here are some of the amazing things about what we, as Americans, believe and what we don’t know
- 7% of Americans believe chocolate milk comes from brown cows.
- 29% of Americans can not find the Pacific Ocean on a map
- 11% of Americans can not find the United States on a map
- 42% of Americans attend church weekly, or almost weekly
- 24% of Americans believe the Bible is the literal word of God
- 26% believe the Bible is a book of fables, legends, history and moral precepts recorded by man
- 69% of Americans believe there is a hell
- 42% of Americans believe that people are sometimes possessed by the devil
- 13% of Americans believed that Obama was the actual anti-Christ
- 38% of Americans believe God created humans within the past 10,000 years
- 57% of Americans believe in some sort of evolution, God guided or not
- 20% of Americans believe in reincarnation
- 55% of Americans believe the constitution specifically established a Christian nation
- 35% of Americans can not name one of the three branches of government, 36% can name all three
- 34% of Americans cannot name one of the five First Amendment rights
- 57% of Americans can not name one Supreme Court Justice – 43% can name at least one
- 10% of American college graduates believe Judge Judy is a member of the Supreme Court
- 35% of Americans believe homosexuality is a choice
- 42% of American adults live in a household with a gun
- 66% of American gun owners own more than one gun
- 89% of Americans (and 89% of gun owners) believe in preventing the mentally ill from purchasing a gun
- 32% of Americans believe the population of the United States is between one and two billion people
- 47% of Republicans believe Trump won the popular vote (he lost by 2.8 million)
- 29% of Americans believe Bigfoot, Sasquatch or Yeti exists somewhere on earth
- 20% of Americans believe the sun revolves around the earth

- 54% of Americans believe intelligent life exists somewhere other than earth
